Cognitive/Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
"All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What you think, you become." - Hindu Prince Gautama Siddharta, the founder of Buddhism, 563-483 B.C.
The Buddha acknowledged the power of thought in influencing feelings and behavior about 2,500 years ago. In the late 1950's Albert Ellis and Aaron Beck westernized these teachings by developing therapeutic techniques called Cognitive/Behavioral Therapy. The main premise of CBT is that thoughts affect feelings and feelings affect behavior.
CBT represents a therapeutic approach that focuses on solving problems through a goal-oriented, systematic procedure. Research consistently presents Cognitive/Behavioral Therapy as one of the most effective treatments for a wide variety of emotional issues.
For adults, I utilize predominantly a Cognitive/Behavioral Therapy techniques combined with Buddhist mindfulness. For children and adolescence I utilize predominantly Attachment Therapy combined with Cognitive/Behavioral Therapy.
