Bipolar Disorder
Distinct periods of at least one week of abnormally and persistently elevated, expansive, or irritable mood characterize Bipolar Disorder. In addition, three or more of the following are present:
- inflated self-esteem or grandiosity
- decreased need for sleep
- more talkative than usual
- flight of ideas
- distractibility
- increase in goal-oriented behavior
- excessive involvement in pleasurable activities that have a high potential for painful consequences
