Weight Management
Losing weight does not have to be about pain and suffering. Losing weight can represent an empowering, life-changing, and enjoyable process.
Losing weight requires exercising the mind as well as the body. Those who have the most success losing weight address it from mental, emotional, and physical viewpoints. Dealing with the underlying emotional issues that led to weight gain are key to losing weight and maintaining your weight loss. Helping people lose weight is work that I really enjoy and I have devoted much time gaining knowledge about weight loss through continuing education.
Weight gain can be due to depression, anxiety, PTSD, or other mental illness. It can be due to childhood abuse or medical problems. A wellness program including proper diet and exercise often represents the most effective way to treat the symptoms of depression, anxiety, and other mental illnesses. That means you get multiple benefits from maintaing a healthy lifestyle. Services from a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor to treat the symptoms of mental illness are covered by most health insurance policies.
While television programs like "The Biggest Loser" offer great entertainment and inspiration, they also provide an approach to weight loss that is unrealistic for most people. Most people do not appreciate or respond to someone yelling in their face. Most people do not want to exercise at a level of intensity that causes them to vomit. Most people will not lose 20 pounds in one week.
A weight loss program can be relaxing and fun. Working together, we will assess your goals, motivation and ability to make realistic changes to your diet and exercise habits. As a Certified Personal Trainer, I possess the expertise to design individualized diet and exercise programs based upon your goals, motivation and ability. I can provide instruction in the proper exercise techniques to maximize your results and safety.
I will help you monitor your training program. During this process, many people gain insight into patterns of thinking that hold them back in other areas of life, or those that cause symptoms.
When counseling clients who wish to lose weight, I provide support to help you set reasonable goals, celebrate progress, and learn lessons from setbacks.
